SERVICE

Souper Bowl of Caring

Service is one of the hallmarks of Sisters In the Spirit of Houston, Inc. On Tuesday, February 18, 2025,  SIS volunteers met for four hours at the Houston ISD Nutrition Services Warehouse and exemplified service with a smile by collaborating with SIS Angelica Adams and the HISD Community Partnerships Department.  The following Sisters:  Lucille Ford from Our Mother of Mercy; Mary St.Julian, Elizabeth Kindle, Evelyn Wagner Wright and Angelica Adams all of St.Francis of Assisi, collectively organized and assembled 22,515 food items for the HISD Souper Bowl of Caring.

Souper Bowl of Caring is a nationwide food drive initiative led by youth.  This campaign leverages the energy around football’s biggest celebration to mobilize and inspire people to tackle hunger in their communities. Houston ISD adopted the initiative to address food insecurity within its district and supports 75 emergency campus food pantries.

SIS Angelica Adams graciously thanked her Sisters with this message, “Thanks so much for today’s support.  Your efforts are remarkable and very much appreciated.  We treasure your collaborative spirit, which will benefit more than 1500 families. You are amazing!”

The ladies were grateful for the opportunity to provide service for such a worthy cause and they enjoyed fellowshipping with each other as they worked.  All are welcome to support the next service project.
